The history of POVISA Hospital begins in the late sixties , when a group of prestigious doctors in that city conceived theidea of uniting in a single clinical respective. Although society as such was founded in 1969, it was not until March 1973 when the building is inaugurated Hospital in Salamanca street Vigo. In those early years of the Hospital, it is difficult to predict further growth. POVISA is limited, in principle, to essentially offer the specialties of its founders, plus some cancer treatment systems isotope and cobalt bomb that put the Oncology Department at the technological forefront of the time. Also, currently Povisa is part of the Hospital Association of Galicia (Ahosgal), and meets the Ethical Commitment and Good Practices promoted by the association and based on transparent management to ensure quality health care.
