The Hospital was founded as a regional hospital whose objective was to meet the needs of the population both within the municipality and in its surrounding area, since, before the hospital opened, people from the area had to travel to the capital in order to receive specialized health care. The Hospital was also necessary in order to meet the growing demand from holidaymakers and health tourists, and it became a leading health center on the south side of Gran Canaria, on a par with the most highly specialized and technologically advanced hospitals in Europe.
Similarly, through a process of public tender, the Canarian Government's Health Department appointed the Hospital to provide specialized health care to patients in areas to the south of the island, making it a leading public hospital for both the Spanish population and a large community of foreigners.
Today, San Roque Hospital is well consolidated in the health sector thanks both to its services and its facilities, which feature the latest technology designed to provide our patients with excellent health care and ensure their well-being.
San Roque Hospital in Maspalomas, in the southern part of the Island of Gran Canaria, helps promote the community's well-being as a leading health center for both the entire population, whether resident or vacationing, Spanish or foreign.
Like the rest of the hospitals in the San Roque Group,San Roque Hospital in Maspalomas is committed to a model of excellence based on a commitment to serving society and on-going improvement of facilities, services and technology.
