The Poliambulanza has origins far, more than 100 years lives by the charism of the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Charity who wanted it and transformed over time.
1903-1908 The Poliambulanza officially began its activities on Jan. 5, 1903 in the first historic headquarters in Via Elia Capriolo in Brescia.
The initiative was born with the aim of providing the city departments and specialized clinics where they could use the sick poor.A group of doctors sensitive to the needs of human suffering entrusted the care of the sick to the Sisters of Charity, the religious congregation founded by Mary Crucified Santa Rosa, already active since 1836 in helping the sick. 1908-1997 After five years l ' hospital activity was moved to the building in Via Calatafimi where space and equipment responding better to the growing needs.Administered directly by the Sisters of Charity, the structure was enlarged and adapted to the needs of modern medicine to this day. The impossibility of further development in a city that had since grown all around, convinced of the need to identify areas suitable for construction of a completely new, modern and equipped with the most advanced technological equipment and comfort.
1997- 2005 The Poliambulanza from September 1, 1997 is operative in the new headquarters in Via Bissolati in an area located in the south of Brescia. A major change occurred in April 2000 with the opening of the emergency room, which soon became the second point of Emergency of reality after the Civil Hospital of Brescia.
2005 - TODAY From October 1, 2005 with the joint contribution of the Curia of Brescia, at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, of the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Charity and the Congregation of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence, the Poliambulanza has assumed the role of Legal Foundation to respond as best as possible to the growing needs of patients and of modern medicine.
