St. Benedict Menni is the restorer of the order of St. John of God in Spain, Portugal and Mexico and the founder of the Hospital Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Born in Milan on 11 March 1841 to his death in 1914 was well-founded 22 hospitals spread between Spain, Portugal and Mexico with the primary objective of providing relief and care of mentally ill women.

Ordained and sent by the Pope to Spain to restore order Fatebenefratelli Hospital, in 1880 he formed the initial core of the Order consists of two young women of Granada, Josephine and Maria Recio Augustias Gimenez who had expressed a wish to be initiated to life not in a religious congregation that already exists, but in a whole new way. Thus was born the Congregation of the Hospital Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, officially recognized by the Holy See June 25, 1892, the congregation of religious voted expressly support the mentally ill, in fact the first psychiatric nurses in their own country.Currently the sisters of Father Menni, operating around the world through their presence in 26 countries on 4 continents. The Nursing Home San Benedetto belongs to the Italian Province.

The first community of nuns in Albese was formed in 1955 in the ancient Villa Netherlands-Roncaldier that was dedicated to St. Benedict, where the sisters dedicated themselves the care and treatment of sixty patients are female. Requests for admission by the sick who lived in the territory was now urgent and severe enough to convince the General Directorate to enhance the activities of the center in the seventies with the construction of a modern building attached to the ancient Villa by a beautiful landscaped garden 'Italian.Today, the complex of the new building and the old village, home to more than 200 patients to which are added during the day goers Psychiatric Day Centre and Specialist clinics.

The construction work continuing at Villa St. Benedict and the implementation of programs in the medium and long term indicate a fervor and activity never dormant.
