The history of CIMA San Jose Hospital dates back to 1994, by that time the idea was born by a group of renowned businessmen and Costa Rican doctors to satisfy the latent need specialized care in the health of older adults and discussed the possibility of build a private nursing home in the country.

Later the thought of building a private hospital in Costa Rica is based, given that on this date in the country's only private clinics were available and only one wide attention. Thus was founded the Hospital San José SA.

During the period 1995-1999 a great process for the construction of the Hospital, which began with the issue of shares, until the inauguration in December 1999 was experienced.

The CIMA San Jose Hospital began operations in February 2000, but celebrates its anniversary every March 19, as this is the day of San Jose, and thus pay homage to the name and address of the Hospital.

The CIMA San Jose Hospital Center has become the largest Central Medical Specialties and as the Reference Center most important health tourism in the region.

The CIMA has leading specialists and technology to perform these procedures with high standards of quality and safety, at the height of the most renowned US hospitals.

Proof of this is that in 2008 the International Accreditation Standards Hospital Quality is received, I Patient Care and Organizational Management by the Joint Commission International.
