About Hospital Pro Matre Paulista

Founded in 1936, at a time when the city of São Paulo had few hospitals, the Pro Matre Paulista came the idea of a group of doctors who needed to exercise their activities in a specialized maternity and were designed to meet women in period pregnancy and the first months of postpartum. It was a time when the differential was the knowledge of the professional, and many professors from renowned universities in São Paulo took up the challenge and joined to create the Pro Matre Paulista.

The construction of the maternity building the initial phase lasted about two years and had its opening on October 4, 1936. On that same day was held the first delivery of the Pro Matre Paulista. The creation of new motherhood was a milestone in the social life of St. Paul, as he filled a gap in medical care for women.

40 years after its inauguration, the Pro Matre Paulista has a limited liability company to a corporation S / A and the presence of new shareholders brought administrative vision and new modifications to the facilities.

In 1979, maternity services have met as ultrasound and monitoring of delivery, modern NICU, phenylketonuria and hypothyroidism screening, human genetics, laboratory and organization of the Hospital Infection Control Commission (CCIH).

Early in the year 1984, we began to computerize our sectors getting the first computers. As new machines were purchased, the Pro Matre Paulista has adopted programs to reach today's stage with all the vital sectors of computerized motherhood.

In February 2000 all the shares of Pro Matre Paulista S / A, and consequently all its assets were acquired by the owner group Traditional Hospital and Maternity Santa Joana S / A, starting the Grupo Santa Joana, the largest group of maternity hospitals of Latin America that currently manages in Sao Paulo maternity Santa Joana and Pro Matre Paulista, and in Rio de Janeiro, the reputable hospitals Perinatal Laranjeiras Perinatal and Bar.
