The National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics Jamil Haddad (Into) is an organ of the direct administration of the Ministry of Health, considered a benchmark throughout the country and caters exclusively to public patients. It is now the only Brazilian hospital and one of 18 of the world that are part of the International Society of Orthopaedic Centers (ISOC), which brings together the best existing orthopedic hospitals.

Between 2013 and 2014, Into performed 17,292 surgeries and 21 task forces, prioritizing the queues with the highest number of patients waiting: spine, hip and knee. After winning the institute status in 1994 was renamed Institute national Traumatology and Orthopedics - Into. In 2011, already at a new address (at Avenida Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro / RJ), over again renamed, becoming called the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics Jamil Haddad, named after the former minister of health.Some of the major complex highlights are the Neuromuscular Research laboratory (PNEURO) and Stress Physiology (LAFES), which will further boost the development of studies in Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine. The Home Care is a reference since 2005. The work complements the orthopedic treatment started in hospital, offering expert assistance in the house of those who suffer especially with mobility problems. Another highlight is Into the Bank of Musculoskeletal Tissues, which has existed since 1989 and is responsible for the capture, processing and distribution of bones, tendons and meniscus for use in many transplant surgeries. The Into keeps teams prepared to make funding 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The whole procedure is free for the families of the donor and recipient. The Into is internationally certified by the Joint Commission International (JCI / CBA), having been reacreditado three times since 2006.
